Allen-Bradley MVI46-GSC

The MVI46-GSC is an MVI46 Generic ASCII Serial Interface Module that is manufactured by ProSoft Technologies. It serves as an efficient and simple way to add two fully-configurable ASCII communication ports to the SLC platform without exhausting the front port of the processor or spending additional processing time. The MVI46-GSC is single-slot and is compatible with the 1746 backplane (remote rack not supported). The module uses Ladder Logic for data transfer between module and processor, and is recognized as an I/O module with access to processor memory for data transfer between processor and module (using M0/M1 files). Configuration data for the MVI46-GSC is attained through use-defined ladder logic; the module comes standard with a sample ladder file.

Hardware specifications for the MVI46-GSC include a backplane current load of 800 milliamperes at 5 Volts (from backplane) and an operating temperature between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). The module has a storage temperature range between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius, or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Shock is 30g operational, 50g non-operational, and the MVI46-GSC module is able to operate in the relative humidity range between 5% and 95% (non-condensing). Vibration is 5 g from 10-150 Hertz and the MVI46-GSC has a processor that is compatible with Rockwell Automation SLC 5/02 M0/M1 capable processors (or newer). The module comes standard with LED indicators for module status, backplane transfer status, application status, serial activity, and error LED status. CFG ports for the MVI46-GSC include RJ45 (DB-9M with supplied cable) and RS-232 only. It also has two RJ45 RS-232/422/485 application ports. Functional specifications for this module include ASCII communication ports 1 and 2 (PRT1 and PRT2), with both ports being able to transmit or receive ASCII character strings; each port is able to be configured individually. Termination types for the MVI46-GSC include stream mode, termination characters, message timeout, and intercharacter timeout or packet size limit. Baud rate is 110 to 115.2K baud, parity is available in none, even, or odd, and stop bits are 1 or 2; data bits are 5 to 8 while RTS on/off timing and minimum response delay are 0 to 65535 milliseconds.
