The 1771-NIS is programmable logic controller (PLC) 5 series sinking/sourcing input module which aids in controlling different electromechanical processes in industries. The circuits’ direct current flow is characterized by the sinking digital module which provides load to ground connection whereas the load to voltage source is provided by the sourcing digital. It is of series C and it supports loop power though limited to two wire transmitter. The voltage supply in the loop power circuit is 20 – 30 volts DC. The device has a very high resolution of 330 microamperes/bits at 16 bits for unipolar which converts the analogue voltage input to produce digital data. The data field is arranged in a natural binary format. The system provides a 24 volts DC overvoltage protection.
The device has 8 current inputs points but has zero current outputs points which have a rating of 4 to 20 milliamperes, whereas the backplane system has a current rating of 2.9 amperes at 5 volts voltage supply. In OFF state, the device is considered to have an alternating current signal delay of 45 plus or minus (+/-) 15 millisecond and a direct current signal delay of 50 milliseconds. For the device to operate optimally, it should be confined to temperatures between 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and should only be exposed to relative humidity of up to 95 percent. The rated value of impendence of the flow of current with the circuit is 300 ohms and is installed with a 1771-RTPF remote termination panel. For support and neat installation, the device can be mounted on a rack.
