The Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module is manufactured by Rockwell Automation. This NAMUR- Certified unit is a 16-point digital input module in the 1797 Flex EX I/O module series. This input module combines the functionality and design of the Allen-Bradley Flex I/O platform with Intrinsic Safety (IS) Technology, yielding extremely rapid signal inputs in an unusually small package. The Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module is capable of installation in extremely close proximity to control devices, creating significant savings in time, effort, and complexity for installers and operators. Specifically, this unit eliminates the usual requirement of setting out multiple cumbersome cabling systems for control, power, and communications. The Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module also features Galvanic Isolation, rendering the Intrinsic Safety (IS) Barriers completely unnecessary.

The Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module has 16 Sinking, digital, non-isolated inputs. In ON state, this unit draws a total of 2.1 milliamperes of current from the backplane. Conversely, during the OFF state, the Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module has a leakage current rating of 1.2 milliAmpere at 9.5 Volts DC. This unit includes a selectable input delay of anywhere from 1 millisecond to 33 milliseconds. The maximum input frequency of the Allen-Bradley 1797-IBN16 Flex EX input/output external module is 1000 Hertz, with a maximum input pulse width of more than 500 Ohms in either the ON or the OFF state. This unit is capable of providing isolation between an input to a power supply by way of Galvanic to DIN isolation. It can also provide isolation to a Flexbus by way of the same method of isolation.

The recommended relative humidity range for this product ranges from five percent (5%) to ninety-five percent (95%). The relative humidity should also be non condensing.
