Allen-Bradley, which is part of Rockwell Automation, makes the 284R-360P500-M1. The 284R-360P500-M1 is a dynamic brake resistor. The 284R-360P500-M1 comes with an IP67 dynamic brake resistor and a one-meter wire. This module comes from Bulletin 280/281 ArmorStart distributed motor controller. Control power for ArmorStart ST controllers comes from a 24 VDC source. They communicate and perform I/O. A1, A2, and A3 are the names of the three connectors that connect to the power terminals. Switched power (A1) is used to make outputs and keep the motor running. There is no switch on the power supply (A3) that powers logic and sensor inputs. To meet Bulletin 284E's EMC requirements, the motor cable connection must have good 360° contact and a low transfer impedance between the shield or armor of the cable and the conduit entrance plate at both the motor and the ArmorStart ST controller for electrical bonding. To cut down on electromagnetic emissions and capacitive currents, the motor cord should be kept as short as possible. The ArmorStart ST controller is CE-compliant with the EMC directive, but that doesn't mean that the whole machine meets the same standards. When you set your IP Address, the network address switches are on the front for easy access. It first checks to see if these switches have been set to a valid address. The ArmorStart ST controller comes with switches set to 999 and DHCP turned on. If you want to bump the motor to see if it's moving from either the HOA or the controller and there is no safety connection, the controller will automatically accept a RUN instruction from either of these modes. However, this means that the local IP address must be changed from DHCP to a fixed address. The module comes with four LED indicators that can alert operators to any operating irregularities. As long as switches are turned on, power is coming in, and the polarity is correct, a solid green LED lights up. This module is appropriate for applications where the motor control needs to be more precise. The ArmorStart ST controller has an IP67/NEMA Type 4/12/13 enclosure that is good for wet applications and has cable connections, or a cover, to keep water from getting inside.
