The Allen-Bradley 22-COMM-D is a device net communication adaptor with PowerFlex 40 drive. The module has 3 LED indicators that indicate the status of the network, connected drives, and adapter. The DeviceNet connection has 5-pins, which can connect a 5-pin linear plug. It also has a 20-pin DSI connector with a connected internal Interface cable. The Allen-Bradley 22-COMM-D has node address switches that are for network data rate and node address settings. You can also set the network data rate and node address before applying power to the PowerFlex drive. For the alternative configuration, you can use parameters and disable the switches. The 22-COMM-D has a mode jumper that offers Single or Multi-Drive operation modes. The single operation mode installs a single drive with a 22-COMM-D adapter, and the multi-drive operation mode carries both PowerFlex 4 and PowerFlex 40 drives. It presents up to 5-drives on one node. PCI-based adapters that are compatible with The 22-COMM-D are 1784-PCIDS 1784-PCD, 1770-KFD, 1784-PCID. The PowerFlex 40 has mounted with an adapter that receives the power from the DeviceNet network and drive. It supports Unconnected Message Manager (UCMM) and explicit messages. The 22-COMM-D offers different methods for exchanging data between the adapter and network like Cyclic, Polled, and Change of State (COS). The module has a risk of injury or death because the PowerFlex contains a high voltage. Before installing or removing the adapter must check the power is cut-off. Only an expert technician that is familiar with power products should install it.
