This product, when used with any RTB that utilizes heavy gauge wiring, allows for up to 628 squared millimeters (mm^2) of wires. It is recommended to use this product when using wires that have a size of >36 - 18 AWG and/or >23 - 14 AWG.


This unit does not ship with terminal blocks. Terminal blocks may be present in photographs for illustrative purposes.

The Allen Bradley 1756-TBE is an extended depth housing for 1756 ControlLogix removable terminal blocks (RTBs). This housing is designed to allow for flexible interconnection between plant wiring and 1756 I/O modules, as well as increase wiring area for higher density applications. It provides a maximum area of 628 mm² and accommodates wire sizes of 40 to 14 AWG. This product is classified as an accessory or a replacement part for the 1756 ControlLogix RTBs. This extended depth housing is designed to withstand the environmental ratings of the RTB modules, which include an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius, or the equivalent temperature range of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

The 1756-TBE extended depth housing is required when the housing of the front of a removable terminal block (RTB) does not provide enough depth to allow for wiring with a size of 14 AWG (2.5 mm), especially in higher density modules. The 1756-TBE extended depth housing is most suitable for use with wires, whose sizes range from 36 to 18 AWG and less than 23 to 14 AWG, are being used. This extended depth housing allows for an increased cabinet depth, from the front to the back of the module, of approximately 157.43 millimeters, or the equivalent of 6.198 inches, while a standard-depth housing provides an increased cabinet depth of approximately 147.91 millimeters, or 5.823 inches. This product can be installed by simply removing the standard housing from the 20-pin/36-pin connector of the RTB and replacing it with the 1756-TBE extended depth housing.
