The highly reliable Allen-Bradley 1797-ACNR15 ControNet EX redundant Media Adapter Module is from the Flex EX I/O series that provides a dual media ControlNet adapter communication module. There is one ControlNet EX node which is connected to a coax trunk cable by 1797-TPx and therefore offering a simple communication channel for Flex I/O modules in locations classified as hazardous and a programmable controller processor with a scanner port that is equipped with a compatible I/O. The 1797-ACNR15 adapter works on a 24 volts direct current power supply and draws a maximum of 9.5 Watts with inductance of 120 micro-farads. The output is intrinsically safe and goes to 5.4 volts direct current and stays under 2.5 watts. There is a Galvanic functional isolation pathway between the Flexbus and the power supply modules, as well as the ControlNet modules, Control EX node and the other node, and lastly the ControlNet EX and the power supply module.

The 1797-ACNR15 adapter has 8 I/O modules and 128 I/O points. The maximum transmission speed is 5 megabits per second which is ideal for redundant media operation. The enclosure has IP20 rating and can dissipate up to 8.5 Watts. The operating temperature range is -20 to 70 degrees Celsius or -4 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. The unit indicates status with LED lights. There are 4.0 millimeters square stranded wire circuit conductors with a 1.2 millimeter maximum insulation. The shipping weight of the adapter module is 0.4 pounds or 0.2 kilograms and dimensions are 94 x 94 x 91 millimeters (3.7 x 3.7 x 3.58 inches). It has CE mark, UL listing, and c-UL, IECEx and FM approval.
