GE Fanuc manufactures the IC694CHS392 RX3i PacSystem serial expansion backplane. This backplane features ten (10) different slots. Furthermore, on this I/O backplane, there are a total of ten slots for input and output. One serial power supply module must be used at the slot at the far left. Currently, this I/O backplane supports only the following three (3) power supply modules: the IC694PWR331, the IC694PWR330, and the IC694PWR321.
Before installing a module, make sure the IC694CHS392 DIP selection switch is set. Otherwise, this Standard I/O Backplane will fail to perform as it is meant to be. Sadly, the IC694CHS392 expansion module does not support hot removal & hot insertion. This might be a drawback, as most other similar modules offer this feature. The IC694CHS392 backplane has physical dimensions that measure 5.59 inches x 5.12 inches x 17.44 inches (height x length x width). Thanks to its compact size, this module can be easily set up in any type of industrial setting. The IC694CHS392 RX3i PacSystem comes with a bus connector. The connector is located on the right end side of this serial expansion backplane.
Furthermore, this module comes with slots for additional expansion cables. When it comes to installation, users need to make sure they are not using a cable that is more than 15 meters (50 feet) in length. For smooth operation, this Standard backplane module should be supplied with 150 milliamperes of continuous current. Also, this serial expansion module only operates when supplied with 5 volts of direct current.
