The IC698CHS009 module is a front-mounted and rear-mounted rack case that has nine module slots. This rack can accommodate many RX7i and series 90-70 modules and central processing units (CPUs). Every module connector on the rack backplane is spaced 0.8 inches and 20.3 millimeters apart, with each slot able to adjust one single width module. The double-width module can consume two rack backplane slots with slot zero on the backplane is reserved for the supply of power and slot 1 is for the PLC. All remaining slots are available for many single width or double width combinations.

The IC698CHS009 has many attractive features like a slot sensing ability for input and output modules with no DIP switches and jumpers required for module addressing. The automatic daisy chaining of interrupt information and bus grant signals with no required slot jumpers are also featured in the module. It has twelve (12) connectors with a speed of nearly 64 bits per cycle. It has cooling fan compatibility and Rx7i power supply compatibility. The dimensions for this rack are 11.15 inches in height and a width of 12.6 inches, with a depth of 7.25 inches. The top and bottom faceplates screws should be firmly connected to the encasement for shield ground Rx7i modules. The ground clip makes contact with the conductor's rail during installation for Series 90-70 modules. The studs must be properly connected for safety grounding on the side of the module to the earth ground with an AWG #12 wire. The power supply must be mounted safely for reducing the effect of electrical magnetic interference.
