The IC200CPU005 is a Central Processing Unit (CPU) manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation for its VersaMax Series of modules. This CPU consists of two (2) serial ports and a configurable memory of 64 Kilobytes. The module can be configured automatically or manually through software. The IC200CPU005 can support up to 64 modules with a range of up to 2048 I/O points. The CPU module is designed with a switch to RUN/STOP and features floating-point data functions. The backplane of this CPU module has a current consumption rating of 35 milliamperes at an output voltage of 5 Volts without an EZ Program Store device or a serial port converter, while consumption is rated at 135 milliamperes at an output voltage of 5 Volts with an EZ Program Store device or a serial port converter.

When installing the IC200CPU005 CPU on the DIN rail, the CPU must be installed with connectors on the same section of the DIN rail with dimensions of 35 x 7.5 millimeters. The finish on the DIN rail should not be painted as it is required for grounding the EMC protection. When installing the DIN rail, screws should be placed approximately six (6) inches apart to get the stability. The IC200CPU005 CPU snaps easily onto the DIN rail, and users don’t need to use any tools to mount or ground the DIN rail. The IC200CPU005 shipment will include a battery that is already installed on the module. Before the initial use, the battery needs to be activated by pulling and removing the insulator tab. A small screwdriver is required for replacing the battery. It is important to note that using the wrong type of battery may result in damage, fire, or explosion.
