1305 AC Drive Selection Guide

The 1305 AC drive will assist you in obtaining one solution for almost all your speed control needs. It is economical and time-saving. It has simple design and control interface functionalities while setting up, integrating, and maintaining your automation system. It has a controlled drive design that enables the drives to control the speed of 3-phase and 1-phase AC induction motors in a comprehensive range of situations requiring adaptability, production, versatility, and simplicity in use. With ratings ranging from 0.37 to 4 kilowatts (0.5 to 5 HP) at 380 to 460 volts and 0.37 to 2.2 kilowatts (0.5 to 3 HP) at volts, the 1305 drive is operational.

Without parameter adjustments, its application performance needs are frequently managed to meet "out of the box,”.  If adjustments in the parameter are needed, it can be easily done by Human Interface Module simply called HIM. The said interface also has big, feedback buttons for programming. Its size is small which has the advantage to bring it in handbags and pockets.

This 1305 drive has a variable frequency with a microcontroller chip that is designed for steady command on induction motors. To change the speed of the motor, the drive generates a 3-phase, PWM, variable frequency output. The output current of the drive varies with output frequency and can be customized to match motor parameters for optimized motor performance.

It also contains a broad variety of adjustable settings that can be adjusted to encounter the needs of many different situations of applications. Simple connections to numerous communication peripherals, which include Remote I/O, RS232/422/485, DeviceNet, and Flex I/O, are possible through standard SCANport communications links. Through the Flex I/O to SCANport communication module, this drive can be connected to ControlNet and other networks. Various devices can also be connected to a 1305 AC drive by the introduction of a SCANport expander.

1305 AC drive has very high torque and fast acceleration with a broad range of speeds. The current limit has a hybrid function that decreases the number of trips during high torque and fast acceleration, deceleration, constant speed operation, and shock loads. There is an IR compensation function that provides high power as it needs. Slip compensation in the 1305 AC drive makes the control fully tight during the change in load. The capabilities of the 1305 AC drive including high torque, rapid acceleration, hybrid current limit, IR compensation, and slip compensation make it so rich in performance.

Two programmable outputs are available one relay and one transistor. The analog output range is programmable and ranges from 0 to 10 volts.

Limit for Hybrid Current

Trips occur during shock loads, rapid accelerations, steady speed operations, inherent braking, and the hybrid current limit system. To reduce the risk of trips 1305 AC drive makes use of both system software and hardware control. This setting determines the highest drive current that can be used without current limiting.

The current limiting setting is given below:

  1. Factory Default 150 % of Drive Rated Current
  2. Minimum 20 % of Drive Rated Current
  3. Maximum 150% of Drive Rated Current
Inherent Braking

1305 AC drive's inherent braking offers a quick deceleration time by controlling the deceleration ramp with a patented software-driven regulator. This is useful for a variety of applications. It reduces the need for outside braking resistors. It helps in saving valuable panel space. It reduces installation costs.

Built-in Protective Features

The 1305 AC drive provides motor overload protection. As a motor overload protection system, it is UL-listed, and CSA certified. It is also intended to comply with IEC and VDE motor overload safety requirements. For single-motor applications, no outside overload protection is required. This not only saves panel space but also decreases the total installation cost. It protects from short circuits in the output phases and ground faults throughout the motor start-up. It also provides heat protection due to poor ventilation.

Performance of 1305 AC Drives

The considerable performance of the 1305 AC drive has the greater acceleration of 150% load, a 0.1 sec. acceleration setting, and motor speed feedback that allows for rapid acceleration and more per hourly cycles. The 1305 AC drive has also exceptional torque performance. It can deliver when the machine cycle needs high torque at slow speeds and torque performance can be kept steady across the whole speed range. The shock load is dynamically responded to by the 1305 AC drive. Although when it is subjected to shock loads needed 150 percent torque, the 1305 AC drive operates with full control of both power and speed.

"Trip-Free" Operation

The drive is built with control logic to prevent future annoyance tripping and enhance process efficiency. It controls the ramp rates for acceleration and deceleration to decrease the risk of overloads and overvoltage trips. It limits the output current under intermittent overload conditions to 200% of the drive's maximum output.

Quiet Operation

When compared to traditional bipolar transistors, 1305 AC drives use IGBT technology which is a protected gate bipolar transistor to offer a quick switch of output transistors. The carrier frequency can be changed to 100 Hz intervals to help reduce acoustic noise and mechanical vibration.

Operator Friendly Interface

Human Interface Module (HIM)

The programming buttons of the Human Interface Module (HIM) are similar to computers and have a backlit LCD. The user may swiftly respond to altering process circumstances thanks to alerts that are clear and indicate drive diagnostic information and status. Upon delivery, the drive mounted with HIM will be linked as an adapter and will be visible from the drive's front.

The HIM has both the Display Panel and the Control Panel. The Display Panel is used for programming and viewing the various operating settings. The Control Panel is used to control various drive features. Some HIM functions will be dependent on typically drive parameter settings. Default parameter settings authorize HIM functionality.

Operation of a Human Interface Module (HIM)

Once the drive receives power, the HIM will process through a sequence of displays. The drive name, HIM Identification number, and communication status will then be shown on these screens. The Status Display would also appear once the task is completed. This display shows the drive's status (e.g., "Running,”, “Stopped,” etc.) as well as any faults that could be present (e.g., "Serial Fault," etc.). The Display, Process, or Password Authorization menu can be chosen as the power-on display or menu. If any of the five Display Panel buttons are pressed from this display, "Choose Mode" will appear. Different modes can be selected by pushing the Increment or Decrement buttons.

Troubleshooting and Fault Management

Power Loss Fault, Overvoltage Fault, Overload Fault, Undervoltage Fault, Overheat Fault, Serial Fault, Overcurrent Fault, Open Pot Fault, Power Mode Fault, and sensor fault are all detectable by the 1305 AC drive.
