Allen Bradley - HMI

Panelview 1000

The Panel View 1000 is a product category by Allen Bradley Rockwell Automation. It features standard operator terminals for human-machine interface (HMI). These terminals allow a flexible interface between operators and machines while offering a variety of control and monitoring capabilities for industrial applications. The terminals are operator interface devices, display panels, or touchscreen devices. And the Panel View 1000 series is also known as PV1000. The terminals' display is Active Matrix Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) with a cold cathode fluorescent (CCF) backlight. Most of the terminals from this series have 640 x 480 resolution. Besides, the most common display color is grayscale. Also, many terminals come in color graphics too. The Panel View 1000 terminals take user input via keypad and touchscreen, allowing a flexible man to machine interface. Apart from that, operators must mount these terminals in an environment that meets the EN/IEC 61131-2 standard. And because PV1000 panels comply with the NEMA 12 /13 4X enclosure, they should only be used indoors. Likewise, the ambient temperature around the terminal must be between 0-55° C. Moreover, to protect the terminal's internal circuitry, operators should placeit in a panel or enclosure. In this regard, users can use little slotted screwdrivers to put these panels together. There should be enough space for mounting as well as airflow. To avoid electrostatic discharge, all power from the panel should be unplugged before making the cutouts. The Panel View terminals may be damaged if metal flakes and other dangerous debris are not removed from the maincomponents

PanelView 1000

The PanelView 1000 product series was designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation to provide an effective industrial control solution. It is the follow-up to PanelView 300, 550, and 600 series. Unlike the PanelView 300, 550, and 600 series, the PanelView 1000 series provides a lot of new features and user options.

Product Features

  • It is an IEC/EN 61131-2 equipment, Class I device.
  • It has a colored or grayscale display.
  • It has a 10-inch-wide LCD.
  • It provides the user with both touch and keypad input.
  • It is embedded with Active-matrix thin film transistor or TFT display type.
  • It has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.
  • It has 16 keys for input and functions.
  • This product may be used in non-hazardous environments.
  • In the case of a hazardous environment, PanelView 1000 terminals may be mounted inside an enclosure.
  • It has multiple communications ports that can help establish links between either single or multiple controllers.
  • A memory card slot is available.
  • A memory card retainer is present on PanelView 1000 terminals. This encloses the memory card and saves it from dropping out of the terminal when it is vibrating.

Catalog Number

The catalog number for PanelView 1000 terminals include:

  • 2711-K10Gxx: This is the catalog number for a PanelView 1000 terminal with a grayscale display and a keypad input.
  • 2711-K10Cxx: This is the catalog number for a PanelView 1000 terminal with a colored display and a keypad.
  • 2711-T10Gxx: This is the catalog number for a PanelView 1000 terminal with a grayscale display and a touchscreen.
  • 2711-T10Cxx: This is the catalog number for a PanelView 1000 terminal with a colored display and a touchscreen.

Dimensions

If the user has selected a PanelView 1000 terminal with a touchscreen, then the dimensions measure 370 mm x 282 mm x 112 mm (14.58 in x 11.11 in x 4.40 in).

If the user has selected a PanelView 1000 terminal with a keypad, then the dimensions measure 473 mm x 282 mm x 112 mm (16.64 in x 11.11 in x 4.40 in).

Clearance

If the user is mounting a PanelView 1000 terminal in an enclosure, certain clearances within the enclosure must be ensured by the user before using the device. These clearances are as follows:

  • 51 mm at both sides for airflow.
  • 51 mm at the top and bottom for mounting and wiring connections.
  • 222 mm of clearance is required for memory cards and the memory card retainer.

These clearances are done for the following purposes:

  • Maintaining the temperature and airflow inside the enclosure.
  • Maintenance of a PanelView 1000 terminal.
  • Provision of enough space for the wiring.
  • Memory card slot access and memory card retainer access.
  • Memory card insertion and removal.

Enclosure

If a PanelView 1000 terminal is chosen, the user must ensure the provision of a working environment with EN/IEC 61131-2 pollution degree 2 protection, otherwise, there is a possibility that the product may malfunction. For installation in hazardous environments, PanelView 1000 terminals can be mounted inside a panel or an enclosure. In that case, the panel or the enclosure should meet the NEMA Type 12/13 rating. This must be ensured to protect the internal circuitry. The ambient temperature inside the panel or the enclosure must range from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. The user also must ensure access to the back panel and slots of a PanelView 1000 terminal for wiring, troubleshooting, maintenance, installation of a memory card, and so on.

Hazardous Environment Considerations

There are specified classes with distinctive divisions and groups that define the locations where a PanelView 1000 terminal can operate safely. These include:

  • Class I, Division 2: Groups A, B, C, and D.
  • Class II, Division 2: Groups F and G.
  • Class III or non-hazardous locations.

Users must refer to these details to select their PanelView 1000 terminal. One important aspect to consider is that all other versions of PanelView terminals, including the PanelView 300, PanelView 550, PanelView 600, PanelView 700, and PanelView 900, operate under the same category of class, division, and groups as PanelView 1000 terminals do. Users must ensure that the class, division, and group classifications are considered for PanelView 1000 terminals. There are separate instructions for installation in a hazardous environment, which include:

  • Installing the terminal in an enclosure.
  • All the connection cables and wiring are to be contained inside the enclosure.
  • Wiring within the enclosure must be done as per the instructions of the National Electric Code.
  • Avoid replacing and disconnecting equipment and components when the power is active.
